To install retracts on a taildragger, the easiest way (and the way I've done it on two other kits) is with the main LG (ergo the retracts) in the wing. They just have to be positioned in the wing so that when they're deployed, they lean forward enough for the wheels to be near a position under the LE of the wing. In my TigerII, my taildragger mains (non-retract) are in the wing. The LG blocks are located ahead of the main spar and tilted forward to properly place the axles. That's the way wire gear are positioned on most models that are taildraggers and have wire gear - not aluminum.
