Bottom line is there are more security concerns with R/C flight then Model Rocketry or R/C boats. It stands to reason that the AMA spends more money on lobbying and has more red tape then other organizations.
When the AMA chose to romance the drones, they almost insured that they (we) would be regulated and increased the security concerns and red tape exponentially. That was their single biggest misstep in my opinion.
