The capacity of cells listed as 1400 mAh are the same, but NiCd cells are capable of delivering much higher currents than NiMH and Alkalines. If you try to draw too much current from them, they overheat and go bad rather quickly, as compared to NiCd cells. Of course, this assumes that the leads you're using are heavy-enough to allow the current to flow without heating.
