Any from the comments and emails I have received from fellows that worked around or service these F4's they say that it's not dirty enough. So yes. Weathering is all about opinion. When I built the F14 last year, painted the gear and then "destroyed" the gear, many guys thought I was nuts. On the aircraft, they look scale and awesome!
It's not that it's dirty, I love a dirty bird. It's that it's horribly done, it looks fake. Their painters are great, they need someone with some weathering skills
Weathering can make a plane look real or like a phoney toy. Unfortunately, that looks like plan B
