Sir, you remember the oposite. Erik always said Lipos are perfectly normal, but just considering the vast majority of RC tank owners are children or their unexperienced parents, they recommend not using Lipos because special care must be taken, and most people wont ever read the manual.

There in the US there are many lawyers and it seems people love to go to court, so it makes sense to recommend to use more stable batteries like the old nimhs.
