After sitting all night, waiting for the JB epoxy to cure, I removed the elastic band. They're ready to install, but not before conducting a little experiment.



The top is a complete CF rod including it's titanium ends and a clevis on one end. The bottom is a slightly shorter length 4-40 steel rod.



OK, the CF rod weighs in at .35 ounces...



...and the steel rod is double the weight at .70 ounces!
