It's always a telling moment when you actually see movement of the control surfaces, in my case the elevators. The rudder will have to wait, as I can't crimp the pull-pull wires until the plane is covered and painted.

I have given a lot of thought about the landing gear. The aluminum gear supplied, while functional, it is far from scale. I got out my dial calipers and scaled down the appropriate dimensions from 3-view drawings that I have. Most of the companies that I have dealt with in the past have closed their doors, 😒 but with a lot of research on the internet, I found a carbon fiber gear that comes pretty close to the dimensions that I was looking for. The aluminum gear supplied with the kit, will hold up a plane that is 10+ pounds. While the advertised 10 pound number (in my opinion) is unrealistic, and the completed poundage of my model is yet to be known, the gear that I chose is for a 12+ pound plane. I think I can make that work, my guestimate weight will be around 14-16 pounds. 🤔

Comparison of kit included aluminum landing gear vs. carbon fiber.

Tale of the tape. 8.5 ounces...

vs. 4.5 ounces.
