It all starts with straight spars. 1/4" x 1/4" spruce spars.











All of the ribs have been released from their imprisoned sheets. The darker colored ribs seem to be made of Luan, which seems to splinter easily. I may replace some or all of them...The ribs come out looking pretty rough, they need to be sanded.



Stacking all of the ribs before sanding will insure uniformity. Note I placed a couple of sacrificial 1/4" square balsa strips to keep ribs in alignment.



I'm not looking to get totally smooth ribs, doing that would undersize them or change the profile too much. Sand just enough to get them uniformly to one shape.
