RE: Best J-3 Cub?
I vote for the Great Planes J-3 cub, built in the clipped wing version with a nice four stroke engine. I have flown a friend's Goldberg cub, and it flies very similarly. I like the barn door ailersons on the Great Planes version - you get strip ailerons on the Goldberg. After crashing my great planes cub into a tree (pilot error) earlier this year, I am planning to replace it with a World Models Clipped Wing Cub .48 ARF. It's a little smaller than the Great Planes, but it's an ARF and it's only about $5 more than the great planes kit. Except for all the metric hardware, the WM arfs are great. If were going to build a J-3 kit, I would build the 60-size great planes cub and cover it with fabric and put a 91 four stroke in it.
But Minnflyer's advice is always easily followed. I'm building the GP Extra 300 this winter, partially as result of his suggestion.
