If the radio is a narrow band, it will have a gold sticker on the back. To answer your initial question, plug the ESC into the throttle port on the receiver then plug a servo into any other slot. Connect a battery to the ESC without hooking up the motor. With the transmitter on, the servo should function. That would mean the the ESC has a BEC feature that powers the receiver and servos off the motor battery.
