Just picked up the laser cut 1/5 Pica kit yesterday. Started shopping for fiberglass cowl and wheel pants. Fibertech had a shipping charge of $50. I know shipping has gone up lately, but damn! Calling Fiberglass Specialties this week to see what their shipping quotes are now as well.
Not intending to build soon, but got such an incredible deal I couldn’t turn it down. Seller was pick up only in Florida and timing was perfect since we went on a cruise last week and I met the seller just off I-95 on the way home. It was meant to be!
I bought the cowl and pants from fibertech because Fiberglass specialties was next to impossible to get in touch with. I've always used Fiberglass S in the past, and recently I was able to place 2 orders with FS. Shipping was $23.35. Received the Spitfire cowl a week later, and the quality is as expected........Night and day difference. No voids, pin holes or limp areas.
The Fibertech cowl and pants were a huge dissapointment as the pants are not as listed. They are 3/8' plus fatter. The cowl has voids and pinholes not to mention at least a days work to grind and sand all the flashing. I emailed them about it and especially my not being happy about the width of the pants............never got a call or email back.
Fiberglass specialties parts are made by the same man that started it and puts care into what he makes.
The fibertech parts look likt a kid made them.
