The Yellow Aircraft 1/5 scale AT-6 Texan (also known as the SNJ or Harvard) is a famous "giant scale" RC model kit known for its high-quality fiberglass construction and scale accuracy.
Specifications
• Wingspan: 101 inches (approx. 2.57 m).
• Length: 72 inches (approx. 1.83 m).
• Flying Weight: Typically ranges from 32 to 40 lbs (14.5 to 18 kg), depending on scale detailing and engine choice.
• Scale: 1/5 scale (based on the full-scale Texan's 42-foot wingspan).
Build & Powerplant
• Fuselage: One-piece fiberglass construction with integral vertical fin.
• Wing Design: Three-piece design (center section and two outer panels) with foam cores and wood sheeting. My wings and tail surfaces have been Fiber glassed with ¾ oz. K&B glass cloth.
• Control Surfaces: Have been glassed on the wings (Flaps and Ailerons) ¾ oz. glass and covered with Coverite Brand fabric covering on the tail (Elevators and Rudder).
• Recommended Engine:
o Historically designed around the Zenoah G-62 (62cc gas engine).
o Modern builders often use 60cc to 85cc gas engines for more authority.
o Mine was built to use the 85cc single from Desert Aircraft.
o The firewall can easily be modified if you want to use the Zenoah G-62.
• Landing Gear: The heavy-duty pneumatic retracts (are custom Yellow Aircraft designed gear) including a scale tail wheel retract.
Key Features
• Control Surfaces: Functional split flaps are standard for realistic landings.
• Detailing: Includes a large fiberglass cowl and scale cockpit kit.
• Functioning: Red and green wing tip navigation lights
• Flight Characteristics: a stable " Known for being pylon racer" style flyer that handles wind well due to its wing loading
Flight Readiness
My AT-6 is ready to final sand, prime and paint. I’ll include custom Vinyl Callie Graphic’s from Magdalena, NM for #55 Navy AT-6, if you want to do a Navy paint scheme.
All Control surfaces are pre-hinged and ready to glue-in after painting.
Mounts for servos are in place.
Air retracts and fuel system are included but you will need to mount them in the place recommended in the plans.
Full plans and building instructions are included, with a ‘like new’ Yellow Aircraft Catalog.
I have a brand new “never run” Desert Aircraft 85cc single with a “Bisson Custom Muffler” to installed that can be purchased with the T-6.
I’m asking $1200 for the plane with retracts. You will have to pick it up in the Phoenix area.
