Default RE: How did you learn to fly?

I can fly perfectly fine on a sim from take off to landing, but im using FMS, which notably does not provide wind conditions. I'm pretty sure on a perfectly calm day I could take off and land a plane completely on my own with maybe an instructor telling me where i should and should not fly in the field. I'm worried about learning how a plane will behave if it has wind with it, and learning how to control it from there, hopefully I'm borrowing another simulator over the winter though that allows me to set those conditions and learn how to fly with wind.

I can land on the runway for the most part, but FMS is harder because you can't look down and orient yourself with the ground, on the approach you have to bring it in real low where you think the runway might be and adjust the plane's position from there. In FMS it often takes me 2 or 3 tries to land the plane because I don't orient myself with the runway correctly and end up coming in for my approach at a wierd angle that would take too much risk to adjust for, so I just throttle back up and try to re-align myself. Thats one feature I've read about realflight G2 is that you can set your view to lock to the ground so you can always be able to see where you are in relation with the ground. I'd imagine when you are flying and coming in for your approach you look at the ground and know exactly where your plane is in relation to where you want it to land so you can make those adjustments before you slow the plane and drop altitude.
