I'd like to make a cowl for a plane I'm designing. My main question concerns gel coat. I've never seen an article on its use or application. I was thinking that if I made a female mold, I paint the inside of the mold with gel coat, lay in the cloth, then lay in the epoxy. But, that's only my assumption...

Has anyone used gel coat? Is there an easy way to use it, and can it be used over a male or a female mold?
