Default Is it necessary to "tune up" your radio periodically?

So you do this as "preventative maintenance"? You just replace everything that you think needs to be replaced, whether or not it requires it?
No I do it becuase it needs it. Like I said before if you would have read my post is that when I fly with my TX when it is worn out the plane will not trim properly. Maybe you are not shooting for perfection, but I am.

y, but even after "thousands of flights", I cannot relate to the wear on Gimbals and pots within the transmitter......Just the practical me that says it's unreasonable to believe this to be so.
If as you said in your other post pots in servos wear then pots on gimbals wear. If you are en engineer as your handle would indicate this should be quite logical. The servos move the same amount as your sticks!!! Granted there is not the vibration on the sticks but then that is why they dont need replacing as often. This is only common sense.

Having said that, I'll assume that you're very much the exception, and not the rule when it comes to practicing this approach. If it makes you feel good, then who am I to quaestion how you spend your money.
In competition circles there are a lot of people who practise this, you must properly maintain your equipment if you expect to do your best.

As for the servo centering, and all that....that in itself is the topic fopr another thread....
No it is very much a topic for this thread. If your pots in your TX are worn your servos will not be receiving the correct input and wont center well either.

Thanks for your input, CHAMP....
No need to get all sarcastic remember you are the one who posted the thread, if you dont like the responses then dont read them.

Now is there anyone else that has some Practical experience and knowledge that can shed some light on the how's and why's of the necessity to perform a "check-up"?
Just did.

This is simple.

A pot is a mechanical device that has moving parts, it will wear out like every other mechanical device, the only variable is when. As it wears out accuracy and thus radio performance is affected.
