Default RE: Let's meet the new guys!

My name is Mike. I'm 24 and a Field Engineer for a large defense contractor. Before that I spent 5 years active duty in the Marines as an avionics technician. I've been interested in r/c flying for as long as I can remember but never really did anything about it until recently. My fiance's grandfather has been building and flying for decades but lost partial use of his hand due to a stroke amongst other problems. So he gave me an unbuilt kit he had in his basement as well as a bunch of parts, tools etc. The kit is a Modeltech Cap 21, still in early stages. Realizing that it will probably take me until atleast spring to build it and that it's far from ideal to learn to fly on I bought a trainer and all the goodies to go along with it. Trainer is built and I started the engine the other day (my first time starting a glow engine). Needs some tuning but it's about ready to fly. Got my AMA license and went to one club meeting but still haven't flown. Hard to find time because I work full time including traveling all over the world 1-2 weeks out of the month and on top of that working on my electrical engineering degree. If the weather cooperates, Thanksgiving weekend may be the perfect time to make my first flight or hopefully flights. Really enjoying reading everyone else's story here!
