RE: Vmar
Hi guys,
I am just finishing my version of the same plane (the red one). I have put the Vmax 46 in it and have mounted sideways with a pitts muffler for the same reasons that have been stated above. I also replaced the supplied mounts with a single piece nylon one. The covering seems to bubble pretty easily but I have found that ironing the covering really helps to improve the situation, hopefully it will stand up to the Aussie sun!!
I have a couple of concerns that someone ,might be able to help with: Firstly the firewall has a gap of about 6mm to the body of the aircraft due to nuts that (according to the manual) should be in place, doesn't look real strong/solid to me. Did you guys keep this arrangement or do you have any idea why they want you to do it this way, is it as simple as just removing the nuts to mount a bit closer?
Secondly, I need a lot of weight in the front of the plane to get to the specified c of g, how did you guys find the suggested c of g, can I move it futher back, without adding lead my c of g is at 105mm (spec says 90-95mm)?
Regards,
Simon
PS. Great idea re the wing nuts, I am finding normal nuts really difficult to tighten up due to the positioning of the alum wing tube.
