RE: Best trainer, not your favorite, but best to learn on?
I voted for the LT40 simply because I've flown them more than once, and have witnessed a LOT of people learn on them. They are larger than most 40 size trainers, so easier to see when "3 mistakes" high. They're also a very stable airplane.
Having said that, I learned on a Great Planes PT 40 and it too was a terrific trainer. It handled well, was stable in moderate wind, and was relatively durable.
Now, I haven't even seen pictures of one yet, but all the talk around them makes me think they may be the best trainer to come along, is that NexStar. I'll reserve judgement until I've at least read more from trusted sources.
