I used it on my trainer, but in eight years, and probably 25 planes, have never used it again.

It probably IS a good idea for many planes, but some of the better ARF's and most kits have a real nice wing to saddle fit, and adding tape would make it worse. Besides, when the fit is good, and the wing is mounted solidly, you don't get any wear.
