You'd think I, being retired, would have all the time in the world. I'm sure you've heard that the time required expands to exceed the time available?
Never had any interest in QRP, and never did much mobile except on 10 meters.
I always tried to set the max modulation around 90%, when Joe Schnoe put his power mike on and overdrove the thing the splatter would wipe out six channels on each side, otherwise.
Building linears was good money, cost about $30 and 45 minutes to make a tx only 100w unit, sold a lot for $150. Add a rx amp for $35 more. And the most expensive thing about the rx amp was the circuit board.

I haven't done any CB or ham operations for years - the CB descended to the gutter, and the hams all became appliance operators. "My Yaesu is better than your Icom." Got tired of it.
