Great planes has discontinued a lot of kits for various reasons. The most common one is simply poor sales.

The Spitfire 40 kit is a prime example. Kit is just fine, for spitfires, it is a very good flier. Problem is that GP customers typically want to fly American planes, and the spitfire just does not generate the sales that the P-51 does... etc.

For what it's worth, GP has sometimes re-run previously discontinued kits, indicating that there is nothing wrong with the kit as such.

The problem is knowing whether the kit was discontinued because of poor sales, or poor quality.

I have been led to believe that my yet-to-be-built Spitfire 40 was discontinued because pf poor sales ....
