Default RE: G2 USB CABLE REPLACEMENT

Hi k_ogre,

I took apart my G2 and checked the continuity of the wires to the USB plug for you. I'm attaching a picture, but I'm not sure how well it will work, so I'll describe what I found as well.

Take off the back of the G2 Simulator and you will see a large printed circuit board. You will notice the USB cable comes in and attaches to the board near the center. You will see 5 wires from the USB cable and attaches to the board as follows: (from left to right)
Black1
Black2
Green
White
Red
Note: Both black wires (black1 and black2) seem to be common

Take a look into the end of the USB plug. Position it so the connectors are at the bottom when looking into the connector. The wiring for the plug is as follows: (from left to right)
Silver plug case - Black1
First connector to the left - Black2
Second connector - Green
Third - White
Fourth - Red
Note: Both black wires (black1 and black2) seem to be common

I would suggest you buy a USB cable and cut one end off and then wire it so the wires from the plug to the printed circuit board follow the same wiring as above.

If your not familiar with checking the wires for continuity, I would suggest you get someone with a meter to help you.

I would think that by wiring the cable yourself, you would void any warrantee left on the product.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Wayne Miller
