Actually the TME smoke pump comes with a screw type of control valve. I never used one since I only turned mine on at 1/2 throttle and above, but it could bog down your engine if you turn it on at 1/4 throttle or lower. My G-38 could take all the fluid it would pump and it did a great job,....... I was using a B&B smoke muffler. I would say that any gas engine could handle it without a control valve,....... I'm waiting on one of the new Sullivan or Slimline smoke pumps,....since you can control the rate with your radio with them.
