Can you please help,

I Am fitting my Robart retracts into my TF P51D and the legs are just the 3/16dia jobbies. How can I secure the leg door onto the leg and have it about 2-3mm away from the strut?

Also, I have found in my kit that the wing skin balsa is mega soft and the wing is getting hangar rash allready!![:'(]

I will be covering it in silver Profilm, but is there a process of giving the wood some strength before I film it? [&o]
