RE: TF P51D 1/7 scale
I used Century Jet retracts, so I'm not sure if this will work for you are not. I attached the top of the door by replacing the set screw in the top of the strut leg with a longer screw put through the door first then through a rubber washer between the door and the strut leg. I drilled and tapped a 4-40 hole in the support for the drag link, and ran another screw through the door and into this hole to hold the lower portion of the door cover. In the photo this screw is covered with a piece of fuel tubing to push the door away from the wheel. I think that you can buy attachments from Robart for this sort of thing if you can't make something like this work, but not sure?
You may notice in the photos that the retracts are no longer attached to my P-51...............this may be a bad time to warn you not to use the supplied plastic clevis for the elevator connection. The plastic pin on that clevis failed on flight #6 of my TF P-51. It took me an hour to find the wreckage in the middle of a corn field.
These retracts will fly again in a 1/6 scale Pica P-51.
Good luck!
