Default RTR does not mean Ready to Run! New definition.

It means "Ready To Rebuild"

I learned my lesson. Of the two nitro kits I have purchased new, both have had to be gone through almost entirely after problems out of the box -The Sportmaxx and the XTM Xterminator specifically.

Out of the box, both experienced loose hardware after the break in period along with other discrepancies...

What I have learned though, is after pulling the complete kit apart (motor included), and being meticulous about reassembly, the cars both run better after assembly- quiter and smoother transmissions, faster pick up, and easier to tune and run. I use quality oils, greases, locktite, etc. and a careful and steady hand - this is the difference I think.

I had some probs with my Sportmaxx- tuning, noisy, loose hardware, etc. After it was gone through it was perfect- quiter, faster and easier to start and run and has been great since.

I had probs with the Xterm- tuning, noisy, loose hardware, etc. again, after I went through it, it is SO much better.

Then I thought- manufacturers have to assemble these kits in the absolute CHEAPEST way necessary- that means some third world country folks are being paid a few $$$ an hour to assemble these kits in mass quantities. I don't think ANY US company that would pay to have these assembled in the US could turn a profit- it has to be overseas- I am amazed companies can even make a profit after the man hours necessary to assemble them overseas. And do you think they get a quality assembly with good materials? No way. They put in just enough to get buy.

Anyways, even if I ever buy another RTR, I will not even bother with it until I go through and totally reassemble it.

This is kind of a public service to those getting RTR's- spend an extra day and get it right before you even
waste your time and get disappointed. A carefully built car by you will be more reliable, quieter, faster, and
more fun in the long run!
