The Duellist 2/40, currently kitted by Pica, is a Dave Platt design, first on the market in 1976 or so, by Dave Platt Models. Dave Platt later separated himself from the company, which was renamed Pica. And Pica, for some reason, has changed designer credit on the plan to someone named Morton Tanger. But it's still a Platt design. I think a lot of the discrepancy between the instruction sheet and the plan has come from the revision of Platt's original instructions.
The Duallist 2/40 Mk II is a revision of the original. It has slightly longer winsgspan, 12 ribs per wing panel instead of 10, and a major redesign of the vertical fin and rudder. In addition, all incidences and the thrust lines on the Mk II are at zero-zero, all the changes making it the better aerobatic version.
The Duellist 2/60 was a planned release for 1977 or 1978, but according to my conversation with Dave Platt only one was built, it was never kitted, and plans have not been oublished.
The Super Duellist 2/60 Mk II is an enlargement of Duellist 2/40 Mk II for "60" sixe engines. Three of us got together by email and did the redesign, leaving the appearance the same. The changes were made to decrease the weight while maintaining the strength, and make the wing two piece. While Dave Platt was not involved in this, it had his approval, and he was paid a royalty for the use of the basic design and the name. We made a total of 50 kits, sold them at cost, and we have no plan to produce any more. The design has been transferred to Northeast Aerodynamics, John Marien is planning to release the kit as the Duel-Air 2/60.
Thd Duellist 2/15 mk II is under development, it will have a full monococque fuselage. My problem has been getting the weight down while maintaining the strength. When the Duellist 2/15 design is firm it also will be sent to Northeast Aerodynamics.
Next will be the Duellist 2/05 Mk II. I have the engines, but nothing else yet.
And there may be a Duellist 2/120 in the future. That one will probablt be done by EHFleming. A bigger airplane than I care for.
