I thought that "denatured" alcohol was ethanol (i.e the drinkin' stuff) with a bit of methanol added to make it poisonous so that idiots don't start visiting the local drug store to get their cocktail supplies.

Methyl hydrate is methanol by another name.... I thought.

As an aside, that stuff at Home Depot that is labeled 99.9% pure - I wonder if that is accurate, and if we could add some oil and use it for glow fuel. If, indeed, it is methanol, and is 99.9% pure, I don't see why not.
