I think it gets cell counts from Voltage readings only.
I had some old 4 cell packs and on 2 it kept reading 3 cells.
I finally slow charged the packs using a wall wart overnite and then put them back on the Isl to auto discharge charge and it now reads correctly. Plus the packs came back up.
I was using output 1 with short leads etc V8.06
