Default RE: Waco .60 ARF

Still working on mine but in response to the many posts about gear failure I ran supports from the front and back gear formers up the the plywood backbone and notched them to glue securely then drilled from the firwall thru all of them to the former in front of the wing and ran 2- 1/4"dowls thru there and glued them securely.Used Pro-Bond and really glued it all down. After the many postys about the gear figured to try to keep it in place as apparently makes a mess when it tears out.Is sure a pretty plane,Would be done if the elevator flaps hadn't torn off my hog bipe on landing. When found all wing aileron hinges broken should have replaced these to.All posts indicate a very fine handling plane that gear is the only negative I have seen.Plan to use a 61FX in mine, have a YS 91 sitting there but only want a nice sport plane think that would be overkill for a sport plane!Use oif the 81 should allow the motor to be cowled without cutting into the supplied cowl where the YS would need lot of cutting on the cowl.Good Luck!!
