Default RE: awsome video

The plane is an Ikarus Shockflyer. Ikarus USA is sold out at the moment but should be getting more in January. The plane in the video is the "EXTRemA 330" variant, they also come in an Edge and Superstar version. All three are reported to fly about the same.

THe plane in that video is flying on a 2 cell pack of Kokam 340SHD LiPoly cells.

The Chipsledde motor is hand made by Holger Lambertus. I'm told he doesn't sell them, so getting that very motor would be difficult. CDROM conversions are one possibility, I've been working at that and initial results are encouraging. My first attempt at a CDROM otor conversion ran at very high rpm but wouldn't swing much prop at all. I rewound it and got it swinging a GWS 9x4.7 prop pretty well, it will fly the plane but it's not enough for any real 3D yet. I've got some neodymium magnets coming from www.engconcepts.com which should up the power considerably.

Ikarus sells a motor/gearbox combo for the plane, but it's heavier and the power is not up to the level of the small bruishless outrunners. The Typhoon Micro6 motor available from edogfight.com is supposededly a nice match to this plane, also some of the smaller AXI motors should work well, the 2208/34 would be my bet.
