not faamiliar with the humming bird but i had a similar problem with a Zagi once. The speed controller in my Zagi had a BEC (battery eliminator circuit), when the volts on the battery get below a certain point it shuts off the drive motor so the reciever can still function. Maybe the battery is weak, or the Speed controller is malfunctioning.
