RE: Sky Master F-18 First flight
Y2kVette: My F-15 has been flown with a 18lbs thrust AMT Mercury Then a P-120 and now a P-160. All of them flew this plane really well. The Mercury was down on power but had amazing response. The P-160 is just insane and throttle management is essential but sooooooooo much fun. I think the 120 is the perfect choice for most people.
Tom Great news I look forward to seeing you and Jane there this year. Thank you very much for your kind offer to fly one of your models. I flew a Kingcat a few weeks ago and was very impressed. A bit nose heavy for me but still good fun.
Tam Give me few days for these pics I will see what I can do.
Flyjets.
My F-18 weighs in the region of 28-30lbs. Lovely looking Yellow F-18 by the way, I hope you enjoy it.
Sirrom, Don't worry about landing speed.
I have only flown my F-18 twice. On the second flight I used flaps for landing. The ones you have seen on the video are very early prototypes. These if I am not mistaken were flown without any flap at all.
Mine had flaps from the offset and with half flap I managed to land the 18 and stop in less than 150ft. In the same flight I did some very slow high alpha passes with no headwind. The model was rock steady with no wing rock or drop whatsoever.
I have some video of the 18 in flight on cd but have no idea how to show you guys it. Sorry (Computer illiterate)
Hope you guys all have a happy new year
