Default RE: Sukoi 1/3 Scale????

I'll accept your point Layne, you accept mine.
Are you presuming this kid won't improve as a pilot? Were not. We all know that while the GT-80 may fly the plane, albeit marginally, it most likely will not be the best match. As his skills improve, (and they will fast as lightning) the probably of him crashing also increases, as he won't have the extra power to save him in the event of some trouble.
Moreover it's the way he so casually blows off this advice, that he asked for in the first place.

I hate to burst your bubble but he is a kid. There must be a mistake with the pictures and the names b/c we both attend the same fly in (twice a year) and we have camped next to each other for the past 4 years.
He told you guys what he got for Christmas and asked you what do you thought. He already has the motor and it will work fine. I'm sure it will hover and pull out (Not sure about how much authority it will have). If hovering is the only thing he wants to do then I understand your concern but theres a lot more to flying and even D than hovering. Will this motor work out as good as a ZDZ80? NO. Will the ZDZ80 work out as good as the DA-100? NO. But the fact is this is the motor he has and if it doesnt pan out then he has a home for it already and will get a ZDZ80 for the Sukhoi.
The first few post were right on the money but some of you are getting way to "womanish" (good word huh?) about this, and now its starting to lead to personal attacks. Keep in mind guys its all about having fun. If the GT-80 doesnt hover his plane the world wont stop turning.
