Guess I won't need the digital servo for my rudder just yet. Got out yesterday for some of that sunny, 50 degree weather. Flew a dusty old bird till the wind calmed down. Then it was time to 3D. Got out UCD #3 which now looks like #1 & 2. I thought that I put my radio problems behind me when I retired the Futaba gear from 1 & 2 Went with JR. 8103 TX, R945S RX, New wire harness, switch and battery with DS811 servos. Got into the air for some not so spectacular flying, still working on my torque rolls when it fell out flat. About half throttle and some up elevator to fly out for another try and it went into a loop, then another. Wait a minute, I'm not flying this. All in all it must have done about 30 loops in the longest 3 or 4 minutes I've ever experienced. We had time to chat about the dilemma. Turned the TX off and on a couple of times, slapped it. Nothing. Got tired of twisting the sticks so we just waited. It probably lost about 5 feet of altitude with each loop as the slight crosswind worked it into the next field. The loops were perfect and it eventually went in level. One foot higher and maybe it would just knock off the gear and prop. No such luck. Off to the shop for an autopsy. Plenty of juice in the battery. No response to input. Where is the crystal? This RX was wrapped up like an infant and very securely placed. No crystal. Did you ever try to pull out a crystal? Its not that easy. Well I got all I need for #4 except a fuse and cowl. Time to get busy. Joe
