KMP - Kondor Model Products
I have built and flown the KMP P-38. Everything seems to be in order. I liked the the kit except for a few very minor items.
I am now in the process of building the KMP Corsair for a friend. I am worried about flying it because it seems to have a number of weaknesses in the wing. The difference is night and day between the Corsair and the P-38. There is a large amount of fabrication left to the builder in the Corsair, more so than any other ARF I've built(5). The landing gears do not rotate well at all coming down. The rotating mechanism seems to bind, making the problem worse.
Installing the flaps proved to be a real problem. The plans call for Robart hinge points to be intalled. There is nothing to glue the hinges to in some of the wing trailing edge areas and the flap leading edges. This process took me two weeks to accomplish, not because I'm slow, but to try and figure out what to do. They are in, but I'm not happy with the end result!
The wing covering and fiberglass fuselage paint do not match at all. The wing is darker and shiny. The fuse is lighter and dull.
The way the cowl is installed allows for no air to escape that would cool the engine. I moved it a 1/2 inch forward to allow some air to pass thru. This required mounting 4 blocks to hold the cowl. There are also no pictures of where the the pushrods openings belong in the rear of the fuselage or where they should be cut.
I could go on, but this enough for me. Never again a KMP.
