70% STAUDACHER
Hello my name is Bob Sawyer, and I am the owner, designer, and builder of this aircraft. It seems that there is allot of controversy about this thing, and my intentions. I will try to explain some of your questions, but first let me tell you a little about my background. I have been building and flying R/C models for more than 25 years. I also have built and flown in several homebuilt full scale aircraft for myself; as well as others. Through my involvement in aviation I met individuals that had money for home builts, but no time to build, so I started a small business professionally building aircraft. This came to an end in the early 80's when I went to work for NASA`S DRYDEN FLIGHT RESEARCH CENTER EDWARDS A.F.B. CALIF. as an engineering tech in the Research & Development department. Some years later I decided to move to San Antonio and start a new business in composites. That business today is in the top 3% nationally with its competition. So I am no mad man, clueless and oblivious to what I'm doing or where I'm going with this, and yes the aircraft has things like rib stitching and duel ignition along with all full scale aircraft grade materials and mill spec. hardware. This thing from conception was never intended to be flown at any AMA field or AMA sanctioned event . The only real purpose of this aircraft was and is for personal pleasure. I will be carrying my own liability policy when I fly due to the fact that AMA will only insure up to 100 lbs. in the experimental category & 55 lbs. in the normal category. As for the possibility of John Travolta flying a Boeing business jet R/C equipped over our cities... Well I can`t do anything about that, I can tell you that when this aircraft is flown it will be only with a ground crew and a very few select persons, in a remote unpopulated area. and for you skeptics, this isn`t the type of aircraft that if the loss of control falls burden to me , the aircraft could fly five miles away and crash, it will plummet to earth in seconds !!! And last but not least there really are plans for a 70 % edge 540 full 3D capable.
Sincerely,
Bob Sawyer
