If you're high enough, you could point it down to gain speed and turn slowly into the wind. If your too low, go straight and bleed off altitude if the area is clear. Most of the time you can pull it off.

In this case I would turn it into the wind and just bleed off altitude and try to get as close to the field as possible.
The guy that said be careful with obstacles, how true, as I found this out first hand. Leave way more space than you think you need if possible (I forgot to extend antenna, lost control for 5 seconds, dead sticked, extended antenna real quick, regained control surfaces and almost made it over the top of a tree..min wing damage).
