RE: Is the field ok?
I wouldn't even want to try stuffing a .46 engine into the Shrike .10-.20! Although if you really wanted to I bet you could do it! This is how I would do it.
1. Reinforce all the spars/trailing and leading edges to Spruce wood, 1/4 inch.
2. Put in a Great Planes 6 ounce fuel tank (original has 4 ounce). I was able to fit one in mine. I'll take pics later. There is still room for foam below and above the tank.
3. Install RX and Battery at the rear of the plane and make a new hatch at the very rear for a ballast tank for adding MORE weight.
4. Do not try to taper the nose to allow the engine to sit inside the plane, just cut off the nose at the firewall and leave the engine mount hanging. UGLY but useable.
5. Move the firewall back 0.5 - 1.0 inches and still allow the fuel tank to have enough room to slide in.
This sounds like it would work using my experience with my .10 Shrike with the dinky little OS .15 LA. Or you could just get a GMS .32 and put that in. It puts out 1.2 HP and is smaller than a .46!
