The gyro is what keeps the tail straight, even if the tail rotor was way out of adjustment you should be able to hold the tail straight with input from the tx. Being that this swings from side to side with input sounds like a gyro problem. The gyro has to be mounted level and certain side up. I do not have your style gyro so this is all I can help you with good luck... Alan
