Default RE: BRISON 2.4 VS FPE 2.4 ?????

ORIGINAL: ronk1

The reason is cost. Some people don't want to spend the extra money. The 2.4 with CH is $80 higher. If you want or need the extra power the CH Syncro-Spark comes from FPE with a 30deg hub. The reason Kurt at FPE sets the timing to 18deg for the fixed timing Ridge ignition is safety(kick back on starting). Options sometimes are nice, Cass. or CD player in your new car?

Not exactly, if the timing is fixed at 18 degrees harder starting is plausible and kickbacks are more prevalent... The 18 degrees is a trade-off it works at both ends of the spectrum BUT is not ideal.

I would agree cost is the primary factor with this offering.

Not only does the Synchro Spark net more rpm it also retards the timing for easy and safer staring. Not to mention smoother transition and typically less vibration is realized in transition as the spark advance curve can be determined by the OEM installer based on their engines specific needs.
