I see. So, if I pay the $1.00, what does that get me?

And then after I turn into an "adult" according to AMA, how much does the insurance cost and what does that get me? Anything different from the $1.00 insurance? How come there aren't any premiums? Thanks.
Clint
it costs you $1.00 now, and $58.00 a year after you turn 19. This membership gets you a magazine, access to competitions/fly-ins/guesting privelege everywhere in the U.S.
As a benefit of membership, a libility insurance policy is included with your membership.

Actually, to get the magazine with the youth membership costs an additional $14.

While the Insurance thing sounds good, have you ever heard of anyone under 21 being held responsible for civil court actions?

Don't confuse the civil court with the criminal court system.
The underage person's AMA insurance protects... his parents.
The point is... WITH membership, you have the insurance to pay off if an accident occurs. Without the membership you may end up in debt for the rest of your life. You can NOT get rid of some court judgents with bankruptcy. (depends on the state and the judgement... but I would count on NOT beng able to get rid of it that way.)

Don't confuse the issue by saying a minor may not have to pay... if the minor doesn't have to, then his parents WILL. (well... that again depends on state laws... as I think there's one or two that you can't sue a minor for being stupid and the parents don't have to pay.)
