I owned a hobbico awarf extra 300s, it also had that sticky back covering, if you clean the area real good & make sure there are no oils in the area, monokote will do the trick, the problem i had was the sticky back covering had faded so i couldn"t match the color very good, also mine had a layer of clear plastic over the covering that i had to peel off to achieve good adherence, be carefull not to let the iron touch the sticky back covering as it will melt it. good luck
