Default RE: Looking for a new WARBIRD!!! WHAT DO U RECCOMEND?

I have trained quite a few new pilots. The four-star is a great plane, but if you want something that looks more like a real plane that is amazingly stable and forgiving.. I suggest the H9 Katana S

An excellent first low-wing plane, the H9 Katana S is light, strong and can be made to fly mild to wild. Set it on low rates to start and it will grow with you as you get better. Power it with a OS 51SX or 71FS and you will learn many of the handling characteristics of a low wing tail dragger in a very forgiving airframe.
It is cheap too at $150 - $160 . After mastering this aircraft, you might be able to move to a warbird. Certainly your chances are better than if you go from a trainer.

There are very few warbirds that even a seasoned pilot would say are easy to fly. They all are a tad squirrely on take off, like to nose over on landing, and have limited aerobatic performance (to get you in or out of trouble),

My favorite smaller warbird is the H9 P-51 60 size, but it required extensive mods to make it fly(and last) the way it should. It also was kind of expensive.

The worst warbirds are the GWS, Global, or for that matter, any electric. They are harder to fly than glow or gas because every one of them are underpowered in stock form.

Follow the advice here and you will have fun in this hobby! I have seen way too many new flyers overconfident in their skills coming off a trainer, jump right into an expert level model only to end up in disappointment and an expensive bag of sticks.....
