RE: RE: Head Count
With regards to 2engsout and flying2bill:
I don't think there are a lot of us who are comfortable with several multi-engine planes in the air at the same time. Most of us get solitary time on our home fields, and acoustic cues for engine problems are sooooo critical.
So, I think most of the demo's should be set up as solo flying, but it would be really killer if we could set aside some time so those pilots really comfortable with their equipment and skills would do some group flying. The thrill value to that is many times higher than solo flights.
My club in Ames, Iowa is small, so interfering with club activity wouldn't be a problem, and I feel sure most of the members would really relish just watching such a high-octane event. We have a large grass field (400' X 500') and very wide open surrounding flood plain where noise and approach angle are not a problem, and the surrounding fields should all be in beans this year so tall corn won't bother us. The only problem is that the field has a tendency to be rough that time of year and I can't guarantee all the guys with big birds and retracts will like it.
August in Iowa can be very hot, but usually 80's and low 90's and pleasant.
How does the Omaha site compare to this?
As I said before, I'd just as soon have it somewhere else so I don't have to do all the work.
