If I crash, I take my plane home anyway. Right after a crash is a really bad time to be making decisions. After a week or so passes, it's good to look it over and see if it can be fixed. If not, then at least salvage any decent hardware out of it. I would never throw a plane away at the field. Just not a good move. Nothing worse than someone else showing up with your plane a few weeks later and having fun with it.
