Have been thinking about getting a Tiger II-can you put retracts on after you fly with regular landing gear and if so what type is best? Flipstart
The .40 size is kind of marginal for retracts. Retracts add a subtatntial amount of weight to that size plane, and the linkages are a pain to get in the thin wing.
I'd say don't.
The .60 size... Go fot it.

Taildragger, the retracts go in the main wing, and ahead of the spar.
Tricycle the main gear go in the wing, behind the spar, and a nosegear retract goes under the fuel tank. (one heck of a tight squeese in a .40 size. Can we say... 4 oz fuel tank?[:'(])
