RE: Missing step in piper cub ARF plans?
Hi,
I assume this is the GP J3 Fabric covered ARF? I replied to your post on the wing joiner also.
I agree that there are a few "minor" steps overlooked in the manual. They do not mention this and you also need to go the the GP website to download some tech notices - one for the fuel tank and the other relating to the landing gear covers. What you did with the strings is correct. They also forgot to mention application of the decals - also common sense, but I think that they need to revise the manual. I am still at the beginning stages of assembly so I do not know what else may be missing at this point.
A couple of other notes... I also glassed the wing joint; probably not necessary, but it makes me feel better. The plane is a very nice ARF and it seems a shame to use the supplied wire landing gear so I purchased the 1/5 scale gear for the Hangar 9 cub and they will fit nicely. They look a bit more scale than the supplied gear. If you want to spend more money, you could buy the Robart 1/5 scale gear, but I think that they are too costly for this "not truely 1/5 scale" ARF.
