RE: Edge 540 Servos???/
Brison makes good engines and there are probably many models out there that are an excellent candidate for a 3.2, BUT the H9 Edge is not one of them IMO... The wing loading will be high, 3D birds fly best when light.
The Briton’s 3.2's all up weight complete and ready to fly is 4.5lbs... (actual weight of a 3.2 I owned)
The model will have a voracious appetite for asphalt on approach...
Below are the actual weights of several engines I owned and weighed in this size range.
OS 1.60 weighs 32ozs. Stock muffler weighs 9.37ozs., engine mounts weighs 4.25ozs. for a total of 45.62ozs.
3W24 gasser weighs 53ozs complete with ignition, mount, Pitts exhaust and battery.
FPE 2.4 gasser it weighs 54ozs. complete with stock down tube exhaust deflector, mount, ignition and battery.
RCS states their 1.8 gasser weighs 50ozs. with ignition. Probably 62 ozs. complete with battery, mount and muffler.
MVVS 2.15 gasser weighs 55ozs. Ignition??? Guessing around 65ozs complete.
The FPE or the 3W are reasonable choices for gas, IMO... 9ozs heavier in weight out the gate, less fuel capacity on board, runs cheap day after day, fuel tank on CG. There is small push for the increased weight of a gasser to a limited extent as you can carry less fuel.
FPE's 2.4 will swing a 20/10 Bolly at 6800rpm on a good day with the fixed electronic ignition, quoted by the manufacturer. 21.77 lbs. thrust.
3W's 24 will turn a 18/10 Bolly around 7900rpm, quoted by the distributor. 19.28lbs. thrust.
OS's 1.60 will turn a 18/6 Zinger at 8800rpm. 23.01lbs. thrust.
