Default Tiger II ARF

Yesterday I went by my LHS to see what was new. Nothing new, but he had Tiger II ARF kit that had been sitting around for a long time on sale. I had bought a new SIG 4*40 kit from him before Christmas that was absolutely flawless, so I got the Tiger II to see how it compared. The first time that I went through the box, I thought it was pretty close to the 4*40. Then today I looked a little closer. The wing covering was originally tight, but the next day it was quite lose and bubbled up a lot. No problem, the heat gun cleared that up. Then I tried to find the aileron well covers. One wing was okay, the other side apparently the builder of the kit put the sheet of wood containing the well in upside down. The well cover didn't fit as the opening for the servo arm was reversed on that wing panel. No big problem, I guess I will just cut a strip about 1/2" off the offending side. The manual shows the wing joiner as a combination of three ply strips expoxied together, but the one with the kit was a laser cut piece of hard wood. Great, but it didn't fit the joiner well on either wing panel. It was at least 1/2" short on both sides, and about 1/8" not thick enough - the fit was very sloppy, both width and height. Disappointing, but not unsolvable. The fuselage is set up to be a taildragger if you want to do that, but it is set up for the Klett tail wheel assembly - Is that still available? I guess I will build it with tricycle gear. Although their are some problems with the ARF, they are not unsurmountable. With the reduced price, it still as a good deal. This summer will tell.
